Let's talk about GOTS

There are several certifications to remember and to keep in mind especially when consuming. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is one of them. GOTS is recognized as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organically grown raw materials. Conventional textile processing often releases toxic chemicals into the environment and into textiles. Processing often involves considerable risks for the people working in production. We all live on the same planet, we have the same water and air and we have to take care of each other. Not least the people who actually produce the textiles we consume. That's why we did it and opted for GOTS certification for our organic fair trade collectionn decided to do so. The fact that our decision enables conscious choices is just a bonus.

What are organic raw materials?

The organic nature of a natural raw material such as cotton means that it has been produced according to certain organic requirements and certified to the agricultural standard. Organic cotton means that it is grown without chemical pesticides or artificial fertilizers, which can be harmful to humans and the environment. GOTS requires that at least seventy percent of products contain certified organic raw materials. Up to thirty percent can be other raw materials, but these must also meet the specific requirements. For example, in some products we use recycled polyester to make the material stronger. GOTS has two labeling levels, where "organic" means more than 95 percent organic raw materials and more than seventy percent "Made with Organic". The Bio-Fair collection includes products with both labels.

Products without toxic chemicals

In addition to the organic cultivation of cotton without toxic pesticides, GOTS requires that products are manufactured without toxic substances or harmful chemicals. Such chemicals can, for example, be suspected of disrupting hormone balance or disturbing ecosystems and biodiversity. This is not something we want to be a part of. Through GOTS, we know that dyes and other additives are evaluated against strict criteria before they are approved. There are also requirements for the chemical content of the final product. GOTS protects both people and the environment, which is in line with our values. For the sake of people and the environment, we must all choose certified products.

Full traceability and social requirements

GOTS-certified products always use organic cotton and recycled polyester. With its high standards for materials, quality, the environment and social aspects for everyone involved in production, you can be sure that GOTS-labeled products are a good choice.
